Mended Puppy with New Friend

I've had this little white puppy plush forever. Even after my dog ate off one of the eyeballs, I just couldn't get rid of it. Finally, it hit me-just add new eyeballs. The new eyes are much bigger than the old eyes, but it's still cute. While I had the white puppy apart I decided to try and make a new one based on the shape of the white one. I had some socks that had worn out so they became a new puppy. OK, enough blabbing, onto the pictures.

Newbies Swap Goods

I can't believe I forgot to post when I got the goods from my totally awesome swap angel. She really thought about what I would want and then, she sent really quickly. I was very lucky to get such a great swap angel when my original partner flaked.

Newbies Only Swap - My 1st Swap

I participated in my 1st swap on Craftster and unfortunately, it didn't really go too well. My partner and I didn't communicate much, but I just figured it was due to us working on our stuff to send each other. I know my skills aren't fantastic, but I worked really hard on everything I sent her and I spent way longer than the guidelines suggest (because I'm so slow). Still-it looks like she got my package, but is not going to be sending me one (what Craftster calls a flaker). I had a feeling this might happen from the get-go, but I didn't want to let it ruin my experience. I ended up having a GREAT idea as to what to make my partner and I really hoped she liked what I made, even if I don't get to hear it from her. I like what I made, so I guess that is what counts. Here are the many pictures of everything.

Purple Dress for Poppet

This is the dress I made for W's poppet. Since I'm going to be seeing this evening, I decided it was high time to make the doll some clothes!

New Naked Poppets

New Naked Poppets! These are my two newest-no names yet, as they are going to be gifts. I'm just too tired to work on clothes now (especially since I stink at clothes), so I'll tackle those tomorrow I guess.

I did two different hair styles, the all white hair I did with a middle part, and the purple/white hair, I did the "headband" way. I'm still not so good with hair, but I like how these look.

New Reindeer Ornament

So tonight I finished reindeer number two. I made this one with a different, more deer-like tail, I posed his antlers (the first one has bendy antlers too) and made his legs closer together for better standing. I also added the hang tag on the top of his head and that seems to work a lot better for him hanging straight. I still didn't add any eyeballs because I'm too afraid of messing him up.

Little Reindeer Ornament

I made this little guy with this pattern by MinaBeana and also with the antler alteration by Estrata from Craftster.

It hangs a little top heavy, so I'm going to sew the hanger a little closer to the top of it's head. Soon it will be off to the Netherlands to live with a pen pal of mine.

Someone pointed out that I didn't have eyes on it. The only eyes I could probably do are googly eyes, so I don't know if I should or not.

Mail Sorter

I've paid one too many bills late, so I made this mail sorter to hang next to the fridge. It's pretty ugly and poorly sewn, but it works, so that's all I care about right now. To be honest, I was surprised my sewing machine did it-it's a really thick fabric and there is a thin layer of cardboard on the back. At some points if was through 4 layers of fabric AND the cardboard. Now that I know I can do it, I may go back and make a nicer one.

PLUS, it was my first time using the button-hole maker on my machine!

These are hanging on a light switch until I put it in it's actual home tomorrow.

Pudgy Horse

This is supposed to be a pudgy unicorn as made by THIS pattern, but I forgot the horn. I also stink at hand sewing. I already have ideas on how to make the next ones better.

Poppet is Complete!!

I finally finished!! I named her Maybell after one of my cats.

Here she is naked, but with hair.

And here she is with her very poorly made dress/pajama thing.

Poppet Complete (but naked)

My Poppet is finally finished!!! The legs aren't quite tight enough, and the arms are a little crooked, but, I'm sooooooo happy with how it turned out!!! After class tonight, I'll make the hair and probably an outfit to complete her completely! I still need a name too....

Poppet Almost Finished

Well, I spent the better part of this morning and afternoon finishing up stuffing my Poppet. I sculpted the paws and feet, belly button, butt and others. I added the eyes and sewed the head on. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to go shopping again, because I tried to use floss (as suggested), but all I had was waxy (non flavored of course), but when you pull it through, the pieces of floss melt together and it's too difficult to separate them properly, so maybe after class I'll go and get some non-waxy floss or some really thick thread or something. Then all I have left is the hair and clothes!

Poppet Legs

Today I made the head and stuffed the legs of my Poppet. I only took pictures of the legs though. Hopefully I can stuff the rest of it tomorrow. Again, go HERE to see what this is about.

Poppet Pieces II

Here is the progress I made today on my Poppet. It's turning out really well. I messed up and made the legs bigger than they should have been, so I might have to remake them, but other than that, it's turning out well. I still need to make the head and ears and stuff everything, but I forgot stuffing, so I concentrated on getting most of the body sewn today. If you are interesting in Poppets, please go HERE to check out how to make your own.

Sorry for the dark picture, the lights in my house suck.

Poppet Pieces

So, I began my journey into Poppets today, but cutting out the pieces of the pattern. I would do more, but I have a test and 2 papers that I need to work on (that I am now avoiding by being online). I'm hoping to work more on my first Poppet this weekend.

If you wonder what the hell I'm talking about, go HERE.

Do NOT take this pattern. It was NOT made by me and is NOT mine to give out. I'm just trying to keep a log of my progress.

Harley-Davidson Purse

This is another Generation-T project. This time a purse made from two Harley-Davidson t-shirts that were too big for me. I didn't think about how I was going to cut it, and the images didn't end up on the sides that I wanted, but I still think it turned out great. My stitches on the front are a little wonky, because all that material didn't fit in my sewing maching too well. I had to hand sew a little bit of it (and rip some out because I ended up sewing both sides of the bag together near the bottom edge-oops!). Anyway...I like it.
